Establishing a community project
Turn your ideas and mission into reality
If you’ve seen a problem in your community that you want to address, TFEC can help you achieve your mission. You can establish a project at TFEC and operate as a nonprofit organization through a fiscal sponsorship agreement. The agreement can last for a short time or for many years depending on the nature of your charitable purpose. An annual administrative fee (minimum $1,500) will be assessed based on the level of expected activity.
TFEC will:
- Accept all donations on behalf of the project, including cash, checks, credit cards, publicly-traded and closely-held securities, real estate, insurance policies, and other nontraditional assets
- Acknowledge all gifts to donors and provide tax deduction letters
- Review all promotional materials, including Facebook pages, websites, etc., prior to distribution/launch
- Promote the project on TFEC’s website
- Provide online donation capabilities through TFEC’s website
- Recognize the project in TFEC’s Annual Report for the year of the project’s establishment
- Process all grants and scholarships made by the project (if applicable)
- Provide technical assistance if applying for a grant from TFEC
- Provide ability for the project to apply for grants from funders other than TFEC
- Process all vendor payments
- Provide opportunity to accept and process multiyear pledges (additional fee)
- Provide access to legal counsel for complex gifts or other legal questions
- Create a statement of general ledger activity which lists donor contributions and vendor payments issued
