Gretna Theatre Fund

Gretna Theatre is pleased to partner with The Foundation for Enhancing Communities through our endowment fund, which helps to foster a sustainable future for our organization. Gretna Theatre’s mission is to grow an arts and culture rich community by producing and presenting live, professional theatre that engages, transforms, entertains and educates and our rich history dates to 1927, as summer theatre has been a staple in the resort community of Mount Gretna ever since. Gretna Theatre is considered America’s oldest summer stock theatre, and Lebanon County’s only professional theatre; the backbone of Gretna Theatre’s artistic programming is our summer Mainstage productions staged at the historic 700 seat Mount Gretna Playhouse, featuring Broadway caliber plays and musicals. While our reputation has been built on the quality and success of these productions, we are particularly proud of our impact on the broader community through a series of arts-education programs, featuring shows and interactive workshops that take place at the theatre and in schools and community/senior centers during the non-summer season. Examples include: professional development initiatives for local artists of all ages in workshops and seminars; our Kids Series during our summer season that allows families to attend live theatre at a low cost; Central PA’s only Professional Summer Internship Program in acting and theatre production; Playwriting Workshops in retirement centers; and our Touring Outreach Program bringing professional curriculum based theatre into schools and community centers. Almost 100 years old, Gretna Theatre continues to be a hub of arts and culture in Central PA thanks in part to the generosity of many individuals, organizations and foundations that find value in our mission.
