Regional Foundation: Greater Harrisburg Community Foundation
The Orthopedic Institute of Pennsylvania (OIP) has established a Foundation through a new fund at The Foundation for Enhancing Communities. OIP is a group of 19 physician providers serving patients at 7 local locations. While most of the physicians sub-specialize, all provide general orthopedic care. From joint replacement, to MRI services, an injury clinic, sports medicine, to medico-legal services; providers cater to the patients? every need. OIP has been voted Simply the Best medical specialist in 2012, for the second year in a row. OIP's Foundation, overseen by a committee of five, operates with a mission to Support community-level activities that promote healthy living in South Central Pennsylvania and mobilize medical expertise and resources globally. They envision vibrant communities in South Central Pennsylvania and around the globe that provide and cherish opportunities for every individual to lead a healthy and productive life. Through the establishment of their Foundation, OIP will be implementing medical missions to provide emergency medical care to developing countries suffering from crises with significant health impacts. Locally, the Foundation at OIP will support projects that provide education, improve access, and provide orthopedic care for South Central Pennsylvania residents. In addition, the foundation will support activities that promote preventative health care, including physical fitness opportunities for South Central Pennsylvania residents. The physicians will be contributing money through electronic payroll deduction to fund the Foundation. TFEC staff will invest these funds and at the discretion of the OIP Foundation committee, disburse funds charitably to support both local and global initiatives in line with their mission, vision and programmatic guidelines.
