2023 Grantee Profile

Gamut Theatre will provide Popcorn Hat Players performances and workshops to Perry County Pre-K Students at Newport’s HeadStart in order to provide this underserved demographic with access to live theatre. Grant funds will be used to visit the Newport HeadStart, located in Perry County, 5 times in the 2023 calendar year: 3 visits for performances and 2 for creative dramatics workshops for up to 2 classrooms. Each Gamut performance/workshop consists of a pair of Core Company members—we will have a staff of 8 at the time of this programming. One pair of Core Company members could visit two HeadStart classrooms in a single day as performances and workshops for students will last no longer than 30 to 35 minutes. For Newport HeadStart teachers, Gamut Core Company Members will provide 1 1.5-hour teacher training session on how to incorporate theatrical concepts and dramatic practices into the classroom. Furthermore, Newport HeadStart teachers will be given access to Gamut’s Once Upon Online, a children’s theatre series filmed during the pandemic, to utilize in their classroom.

The Harold M. Greaney Fund seeks to fund programs and service from nonprofit organizations serving Perry County citizens. Harold Greaney was a plumbing and heating contractor in Perry County for decades. He was very active in the community and during his lifetime gave generously to many organizations in Perry County and the surrounding areas. He desired to support such organizations in perpetuity and that was accomplished by establishing a fund with PCCF.
