COVID-19 Community Response Fund awards fourth round of grants to Central PA nonprofits providing essential services
HARRISBURG, Pa. (July 22, 2020) — The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) and United Way of the Capital Region (United Way) has awarded an additional $23,750 in grants to 10 more nonprofit organizations providing essential services and support during the COVID-19 pandemic. In total, the COVID-19 Community Response Fund has awarded $169,278 to 74 nonprofit organizations.
“TFEC remains steadfast in providing support to these deserving organizations in the Central Pennsylvania region,” said Janice Black, president and CEO of TFEC. “We’ve been fortunate enough to receive donations from businesses and individual donors, but we’re hopeful that others will continue donating to the fund so we can continue to put these dollars back into our local communities. So much need is apparent as our nonprofits continue to serve.”
As counties across the region experience a new wave of infections, it’s never been more important to support these already fragile organizations.
“We are thankful that TFEC has continued to respond to the needs of our community, even as they are rapidly changing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Kait Gillis-Hanna, Executive Director, Brethren House Association. “Their understanding that additional funding is what so many nonprofits currently need the most, and their willingness to jump into action to help provide that, is a true testament to their mission of strengthening the community by investing in them now and for future generations.”
Every dollar donated to the COVID-19 Community Response Fund will go right back into Central Pennsylvania communities which are in need of assistance.
“Through our partnership with TFEC we’re able to expand our reach into more counties and communities that we otherwise wouldn’t be able to serve,” said Tim Fatzinger, president and CEO of United Way of the Capital Region.
Donations to the fund can be made at www.tfec.org/covid19. Individual donors can also text “TFEC” to 56512 to receive a link to donate. Nonprofit organizations based in Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, Perry and Northern York Counties are invited to apply for assistance through the fund at www.tfec.org/covid19resources.
