Bob Hovis Educational Scholarship Fund

The Bob Hovis Educational Scholarship Fund was established through his estate to support a male and a female graduating high school senior for up to four years of full-time study at a college or university. The applicant should be one who has demonstrated a commitment to serving their community.

Bob was a graduate of Waynesboro High School where he had participated in football, baseball, and track & field. He was a semi-professional bowler for most of his life. Bob retired from Landis Tool Co. after a 47-year career that started as a machinist and expanded through many other positions.

Scholarship FAQ

Criteria

  1. Graduating high school senior from Waynesboro High School (1 award will be made each to a male and a female student)
  2. Full time attendance at a four-year college or university
  3. Academic performance – minimum 3.2 GPA
  4. Awardees will not be married at the time of high school graduation.
  5. Strong participation in service activities
  6. Financial need
  7. Supplemental documents. This may include a resume, letter(s) of recommendation, transcript, FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS) or other scholarship-specific documents. Specific requirements are noted in the application.

Renewability

This scholarship will automatically renew for up to 3 additional years after initial award provided the recipient maintain a 3.2 GPA and remains a full-time student. Students must submit their transcript and tuition bill EACH SEMESTER for renewal of the award.

Should the GPA requirement not be met, the student will be placed on probation. Failure to regain the required GPA after one academic semester will result in the loss of the scholarship.
