Essay

Mrs. Carol Hoy served children all her adult life. After graduating from Mechanicsburg Area School District and Shippensburg University, she taught in the elementary and pre-school settings. Her last positions were at Filbert Street Elementary (12 years) and Elmwood Elementary (1 year) in the learning support program. Her dedication to students and her patient and kind demeanor will always be remembered by those she left behind. Through the Carol Hoy Memorial Scholarship, we attempt to honor her commitment to children and their educational successes. In one or two paragraphs, explain what you feel the following quote means in an educational setting: “The woods would be silent if only those birds sang who sing the best.” 300 words maximum.
