Dustin McAlpine Scholarship Fund

This fund was established in the memory of Dustin McAlpine, a member of the Newport High School class of 2001. He was killed in a car accident the beginning of his senior year. Dustin was a proud member of the first varsity golf team and also enjoyed participating on the basketball and baseball teams. He had a caring heart and infectious enthusiasm for all sports and Newport High School. The criteria set up for this scholarship best exemplifies the teammate/student that Dustin was.

Scholarship FAQ

Criteria

  1. Student should be a graduating high-school senior from Newport High School who plans to further their education
  2. Participates in one or more sports in the current year
  3. Has never been deemed ineligible or suspended for either school and sport participation
  4. Ranked top third in their class (this will be validated upon graduation in order for scholarship to be finalized)
  5. Positive influence on the student body of Newport High School
  6. Full time attendance at a Four Year or Two-Year college or university
  7. Financial Need
  8. Supplemental Documents. One to Two (1-2) Personal Reference Letters. Letters should be from a teacher and/or from a coach. Letters from family members cannot be accepted.

Payment will be issued for the Spring semester after fall transcripts have been received and is contingent on the full-time continued attendance of the student. This scholarship is a one-time only award.
