Ely-Wain Scholarship Fund

As more people become conscious of how humans are affecting the planet, opportunities abound for college graduates to make a living protecting the Earth. This scholarship was created to provide assistance to Central PA high school seniors pursuing degrees in fields related to environmental science and sustainability.  It is meant for young women and men who aspire to make a difference as well as a salary. Areas of study must contribute to the integration of environment, economy, and social systems into a sustainable future where humans and nature exist in productive harmony.

Scholarship FAQ

Criteria

  1. Graduating high school senior from a high school in Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, or Perry counties 
  2. Plans to pursue a field of study such as Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Engineering, Sustainable Architecture and Design, Sustainable Business, Sustainable Public Policy, Sustainable Urban Planning, or Sustainable Technology.  Majors not clearly relevant to sustainability will not be considered   
  3. Plans to attend a two- or four-year school as a full-time student  
  4. Preference will be given to students attending college in the state of Pennsylvania 
  5. Evidence of good character 
  6. A minimum GPA of 3.0 
  7. Financial Need 
  8. Essay
  9. Supplemental documents. This may include a resume, letter(s) of recommendation, transcript, FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR), or other scholarship-specific documents. Specific requirements are noted in the application.
