Criteria

  • Students must be residents of one of the following central Pennsylvania counties: Adams, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Fulton, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, or York.
  • Students should be enrolled as full-time undergraduate students who must be of high promise and good academic credentials.
  • Students from “middle income” families who are not eligible for federal loans or college financial aid are eligible for this scholarship if they demonstrate financial need. Scholarship grants may be used for tuition and fees only.

HARRISBURG ACADEMY – The students selected shall assist in providing both cultural and economic diversity among the student body, with an emphasis on minorities and foreign students. The scholarship shall be used to provide additional tuition scholarships over and above that otherwise budgeted for scholarships and shall be allocated equally among lower, middle, and upper school divisions of the Academy.

NEW BIRTH OF FREEDOM COUNCIL, BOY SCOUT ASSOCIATION 

The Bear Fund will award several scholarships to graduating seniors or current post-secondary students who are nominated by the New Birth of Freedom Council, Boy Scouts of America. Selection criteria include scholastic ability, career goals, financial need and community service. All scholarship recipients must have attained the rank of Eagle Scout in York or Adams Counties. Students from “middle-income” families who are not eligible for federal loans or college financial aid are eligible for this scholarship if they demonstrate financial need. This scholarship is renewable for up to four years; however, the student must reapply each year. The scholarship is available for tuition, books, supplies and fees.
