James G. Hewlett Memorial Scholarship

The James G. Hewlett Memorial Scholarship Fund was established through the estate of James G. Hewlett to support students who are Franklin county residents who are studying nursing or other medical support occupations, such as radiological technology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, laboratory technology, nurse practitioners, inhalation therapy, etc. The fund is intended to support students who are working towards their undergraduate degree, but will support graduate students if there are not any eligible undergraduate applicants. 

The scholarship is a fund of the Franklin County Community Foundation, a regional foundation of TFEC.

Criteria

  1. Resident of Franklin County 
  2. Desire to pursue a degree in nursing or other medical support occupations 
  3. Academic achievement, including a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale 
  4. Extracurricular activities (sports, organizations, clubs, etc.) 
  5. Service to the community (volunteering) 
  6. Financial need 
  7. Essay
  8. Supplemental documents. This may include a resume, letter(s) of recommendation, transcript, FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR), or other scholarship-specific documents. Specific requirements are noted in the application.

Explain your commitment to your desired occupation and your career goals. 300 words maximum.

Renewability

Recipients of this scholarship may reapply for consecutive years. Students must submit a full application but may be prompted to complete a different essay.
