TFEC Student Emergency Assistance Fund

The TFEC Student Emergency Assistance Fund will provide financial support to meet the emergency needs of students in situations that may prevent them from persisting in their post-secondary program. The fund will make grants to individuals up to $500 per application. Students may re-apply for funding up to a maximum of $1,500 in total.

Scholarship FAQs

Criteria

  1. Student must be a recipient of a TFEC scholarship within the past 4 years 
  2. Must be currently enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning or technical school 
  3. Must be experiencing a financial hardship that will hinder academic progress (some examples would include: financial hold on account, medical expenses, living expenses, and transportation) 
  4. Must be able to show proof of expense and financial need 
  5. Emergent situation must have occurred within the last 90 days or emergency expense is due within the next 90 days 
  6. Supplemental documents. This may include a resume, letter(s) of recommendation, transcript, FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR), or other scholarship-specific documents. Specific requirements are noted in the application.

Renewability

Individuals may re-apply for consideration up to $1,500 by completing the full application process as long as they are eligible and have not met the maximum award limit.
