Specific Criteria for Named Scholarships from The York Rotary Foundation

YORK CITY STUDENT SUCCESS FOR TOMORROW SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to each of two students who are residents of York City; who are graduating from a high school in York County; and who demonstrate financial need and academic achievement (defined as minimum GPA of 3.0).
Award: Four-year $2,500 scholarship (up to $10,000 total).

JAMES C. & CARRIE B. BUSH SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to one student graduating from a high school in York County who demonstrates high academic achievement.
Award: Four-year $1,200 scholarship (up to $4,800 total)

EDWIN P. MANGOLD SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to one student graduating from a high school in York County who demonstrates high academic achievement.
Award: Four-year $1,250 scholarship (up to $5,000 total)

SANFORD M. KRANICH SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to one York County student attending a two-year or four-year institution of higher education.
Award: one-year $2,200 scholarship
Renewability: Students can reapply multiple years however no extra consideration is given to reapplicants

CHARLES W. DIEHL JR. SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to one York County student attending a 4-year accredited, degree granting institution majoring in Engineering, preference given to graduates of William Penn High School.
Award: one-year $1,200 scholarship
Renewability: Students can reapply multiple years however no extra consideration is given to reapplicants

JOHN T. & PAIGE S. SMITH SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to one York County student who demonstrates high academic achievement, majoring in Agriculture, and participation in agricultural activities. **Alternative Essay Prompt: discuss your interest in the Agricultural field of study.
Award: one-year $3,000 scholarship
Renewability: Students can reapply multiple years however no extra consideration is given to reapplicants

ARLINGTON KAHLEY “RISING MUSICIAN” SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to one York County student who demonstrates high academic achievement and participation in music.  Preference will be given to graduates of William Penn High School or York Suburban High School and students majoring in Music.
Award: one-year $1,000 scholarship
Renewability: Students can reapply multiple years however no extra consideration is given to reapplicants

DONNA E. HAYES EQUINE SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to one York County college student majoring in the Equine field. Student must demonstrate high academic achievement and participation and accomplishments in equine activities. **Alternative Essay Prompt: discuss your interest in the equine field.
Award: Four year $1,000 (up to $4,000 total)

CAROL WAGMAN NURSING SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to one York County student in their junior or senior year at York College of PA pursuing Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. **Alternative Essay Prompt: “Why I will make a great nurse”
Award: one-year $2,300 scholarship
Renewability: Students can reapply multiple years however no extra consideration is given to reapplicants

YORK ROTARY ADULT LEARNER SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to each of two York County, non-traditional higher education adult learners who do not enter post-secondary education immediately following high school AND:

  • Is at least 26 years of age OR a veteran age 24 or older
  • Attends an accredited institution OR accredited program of learning or training at least part-time during the year
  • Is pursuing their first bachelor’s or associate degree, trade, or technical school, or professional certificate program
  • Has been a resident of York County for a minimum of three years
  • Preference to residents of York City

Award: one-year $2,250 scholarship

Rosenmiller Family Scholarship will be awarded to one York County student graduating high school or current college student, pursuing a career in healthcare with academic achievement.

Award: one-year $1,500
Renewability: Students can reapply for multiple years however no extra consideration is given to reapplicants.
