Local Organization Reaccredited with Rigorous Philanthropic Standards
HARRISBURG, PA — The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) recently received reaccreditation with The Community Foundations National Standards®, the nation’s highest standard for philanthropic excellence. National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations® establish legal, ethical, effective practices for community foundations everywhere.
“Meeting the National Standards benchmarks is a rigorous, comprehensive process,” said Randy Royster, board member of the Council on Foundations. “This accreditation is a significant accomplishment that indicates The Foundation for Enhancing Communities demonstrates a commitment to transparency, quality, integrity and accountability as it carries out its mission.”
The National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations® program requires community foundations to document their policies for donor services, investments, grantmaking, and administration. The program is designed to provide quality assurance to donors, as well as to their legal and financial advisors.
Paramount to TFEC’s mission is the practice of handling donated assets and the creation of permanent funds, investment, and grantmaking for the benefit of local nonprofits and the furtherment of its goals within the community it serves.
“When people come to TFEC with their philanthropic interests, they put their trust in us. They count on us to manage their investment wisely and honor their charitable wishes. The National Standards accreditation says we go above and beyond the requirements to demonstrate accountability and excellence. We are very proud of this reaccreditation,” said TFEC President and CEO Janice Black.
In addition to affirming the organization’s philanthropic services, the reaccreditation validates TFEC’s grantmaking practices for the nonprofit community.
