In 2023, women in Pennsylvania earned just 82 cents for every dollar earned by men, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Pennsylvania currently ranks 18th in the nation for the largest gender wage gap. At the current pace of progress, Pennsylvania women won’t achieve pay equity until 2068.
In Pennsylvania, women are less likely than men to earn STEM degrees and work in STEM fields. Men receive 55% of STEM bachelor’s degrees and hold 30% of STEM jobs, while women receive 45% of STEM bachelor’s degrees and hold just 18% of STEM jobs.
